BANGALORE: INDIA has just two unique IP addresses (IPs) for every 1,000 people and only 2.1 million machines in the country are permanently connected to the internet, according to the second quarterly 'State of the internet' report by online delivery company Akamai. The country ranked 14th in terms of unique IPs, a growth of 4.5% over the January-March first quarter. Over 340 million unique IPs connected to Akamai's network of 36,000 servers between April and June, the report said.
