WinDirStat is a windows freeware that analyses the contents of your drives (you can even specify a particular location) and displays, how much data is stored in the drive , graphically. Thus you will able to make comparisons among files. From the graphical view named treemap, you can easily spot out which folder/file is taking up more space and delete them if you want.
The three views shown on the main window are:
- The directory list, which resembles the tree view of the Windows Explorer but is sorted by file/subtree size
- The treemap, which shows the whole contents of the directory tree straight away
- The extension list, which serves as a legend and shows statistics about the file types
A portable version of the software is also available. I use this software on a regular basis to find out which unnecessary files are taking up the space in my pen drive and to delete them.
