Hi,

If you're a facebook user and chat a lot with Facebook friends, then you must be in search of a desktop client for use with Facebook chat, right ?

So in this HOWTO, I cover how to use Pidgin for Facebook chat WITHOUT any extra installation of plugins, etc.

This tutorial enables you to connect to Facebook chat using Jabber or XMPP protocol !

Steps:

• Open Pidgin
• From the Accounts menu, select Manage Accounts
• In the new window, click Add
• In the Account creation window, select Protocol as XMPP
• Type into Username the text that appears in facebook.com/username
• Type your Password
• In Resource, type something like pidgin or Home.
• Type Domain as chat.facebook.com
• Check 'Remember Password' if you wish to do so.
• Give it a Local Alias if you want
• Swtich to Advanced Tab
• Uncheck 'Require SSL/TLS'
• Type chat.facebook.com into the box which says 'Connect Server'
• Click Add
• Set your status to 'Available' or whatever you want.
• You've your facebook friends in pidgin with groups (lists) !!!!!!
