Linux is Immune to Virus, learn why...

Posted in

1)Kernel updates are there available all most every fortnight, so even a virus is made... at the most its most effective for a fornight or so.

2)The Linux Kernel aint a joke.

3)Administrative rights(root access) is required to make system changes or install s/w.

4)All most all the software provided in a full blown linux distro like fedora, ubuntu ,SUSE etc etc etc have their packages installed right from their own DEDICATED repositories.

5)Since all the software's you would ever want to have on your system are all ready available in repositories, those linux geeks making these repositories sure know what they are doing, and more importantly... they are free of all pest(BUGS not applicable, BUGS are to be dealt with, by the software developer/community), hence it is recommended to install from your repositories only.

6)Many million virus tailoired to harm windows OS dont even effect a Linux operated system, cus the Linux Kernel doesnt even co-operate with the virus to create a problem. At the most, these virus will be seen as simple file which you can delete if you recognise them.

7)So you don't really have to be worried about the rumours which have loitering around saying that, "5% of viruses made are tailored for Linux OS"... because you now know that, even if its true, its gona effect us too muc.

8)There a heterogenous set of s/w available in linux, comprising of more than type of architecture hence making it a difficult target for hackers to get their hands on.

9)And of course, since most of the Linux distros are open to community(open-source), free and easy to use. There wont be much people who would even want to spoil it by creating issues with Linux, at the most, if a virus does really exist which can really harm Linux... they must be one of the Linux rival, you know who i am talking about, for they fear that Linux community will destroy the heavy profits they make.

10)Linux is not TOTALLY immune to virus.... but way more immune as compared to the other OS available in todays market

hence prooved

Great article highlighting

Great article highlighting why Linux is secure. But I won't agree to the 10th point. Because as far as I remember, Mac-OS comes first then Linux and then follow others.

Wrong... i did quite alot of

Wrong... i did quite alot of research, as u know linux is more or less like unix, n unix is what MAC is based on... there was a hack test organised by some big company, the contestants were microsoft windows XP, ubuntu, and MAC OS X... believe it or not, MAC OS X fell for it first(within 3 hours), then Windows XP(after 9 hours) Ubuntu took it for more than 3 days but still was safe and sound... hackers eventually gave up... my point here is linux is pretty secure... MAC has a major draw back against hackers

thnks for sharin dude. Didnt

thnks for sharin dude. Didnt knw windows Xp is more secure than Mac...
