Syphir - Excellent Additional Filters For Gmail
Anyone familiar with filters on Gmail will think that they can't get better filters. Right ? Well think again, because Syphir redefines the whole filter experience on Gmail. Syphir provides excellent additional filters for Gmail and is very powerful and effective. It also has an add-on for the iPhone.
Syphir is very simple to use and is extremely user friendly. A first timer will have absolutely no problems setting up filters via Syphir. You can login to both Syphir Rules as well as Syphir SmartPush (for iPhone) using your Google (or Google Apps) account. After logging in with your Google (or Google Apps) account, you will be asked to allow Syphir email address. While this may seem scary, it is actually completely secure. Syphir will not store your password unlike IMAP protocols which require you to supply all your credentials as Syphir uses the OAuth protocol, which allows users to share data without supplying the password. Syphir also supports OpenID which explains how you can login to Syphir with your Google (or Google Apps) account. Syphir may index and analyse parts of your mailbox for it to quickly perform searches and operations if you are using Syphir SmartPush. But you can do away with this by disabling the mailbox analysis feature from your main account page.
After approving of Syphir's request, you will be shown to a page where you have to set your "Rules". Syphir then performs actions according to the rules provided by you. From here you can set up your filters and decide what action should be taken by Syphir. I'm sure you won't be needing my help for that
It's pretty self-explanatory from here on. So go ahead and explore the amazing features of Syphir.
And for those of you who think that Gmail has enough filters and you don't need anymore..... think again !
Please leave your comments on your experience of Syphir or if you know of a service that is better than Syphir in what it does.
