Pidgin: Run Different Clients from One Application
Most of you may be wondering what is so special in this messenger .Well….. Pidgin(formerly named Gaim) is a multi-platform GTK+ instant messaging application which helps the user to log into multiple networks using the same program.
This 12.5 MB utility helps the user to login to multiple accounts on multiple IM networks simultaneously. It means a user like ‘you’ can chat with his friends on AIM, talk to a friend on Yahoo Messenger, and sit in an IRC channel all using the same software at the same time.
This free software currently licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2 runs on a number of platforms, including Windows, Linux, and other UNIX operating systems and also works well with the following:
• AIM
• Bonjour
• Gadu-Gadu
• Google Talk
• Groupwise
• ICQ
• IRC
• MSN
• MySpaceIM
• QQ
• SILC
• SIMPLE
• Sametime
• XMPP
• Yahoo!
• Zephy
Pidgin itself is a decent instant messing client and the plugins present in it makes it unique!

pidgin is by default available on Linux like Fedora, Ubuntu if you select the "Graphical Internet" package group (Fedora). There is a command line version also available; but I'm afraid its only for people who are little versed with the unix or linux command line.
