Posted in

Have you accidentally deleted the "Show the desktop" icon on your taskbar? No worries. There is an easy way to bring back the icon.

  • Step 1:
    Open notepad and copy the following

    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop

    and save it as "Show Desktop.scf"

    (OR)

    Download the file here. We've already done it for you.

  • Step 2:
    Now you have to open the quick launch folder to place this icon. You can right-click on some empty space in the Quick Launch bar and select "Open Folder"

    (OR)

    Press Ctrl+R (to open the run dialog) and copy the following into and press enter

    %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

    This will take you to the "Quick Launch" folder.

  • Step 3:
    Copy the file to this folder. And now you can see the icon on your Quick Launchbar.
