In love with Eye Candy and 3D? Firefox brings you Cooliris(unavailable for linux)

Mozilla Firefox 3.0 (brief & installation guide)
It's an agreed fact that mozilla firefox has copied some of the premitive opera web browser styles; such as speed dial etc. But check out the brighter side of this fascinating thing... a wide range of add-ons are available and a huge range of features as well. But when it comes to speed of browsing its still the smaller brother to Opera, not to mention about the security norms followed by Opera Web Browser as well. If you are the type who doesnt care about fast browsing and features matter alot for you; i'd say go for mozilla firefox
Here are certain instructions for the Linux users to get Mozilla firefox 3 installed on their computer;
1) if u are regular mozilla firefox user, and have certain bookmarks, etc. set while running the older version of your mozilla firefox. Execute the following commands on terminal under root.
- mkdir ff.backup/
- cp -avr .mozilla/ ff.backup/
once you have successfully backed up your older setting, its time to download firefox-3.0.tar.bz2 file to start your actual installation process, you can do this using the terminal itself (recommended)
- cd /tmp
- wget 'http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=linux&lang=en-US'
By now you would have already have firefox-3.0.tar.bz2 file(setup file) ready for installation, Login as the root and type the following command to move old firefox 2 and install Firefox 3 under Linux.
- cd /opt
- cp /tmp/firefox-3.0.tar.bz2 .
- tar -jxvf firefox-3.0.tar.bz2
If you do not wish to restart your computer and want to get on Mozilla Firefox 3 right away to expereience the difference, the last thing u would have to do is to execute this last command on terminal.
- /opt/firefox/firefox &
So for now... you are done with your installation.
How do I make Firefox look like Internet Explorer?
Source: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window-on-windows/?p=675
Let me start by saying that people exist in the world that prefer Internet Explorer to Firefox. They are comfortable with the user interface (UI) and do not care to change. If you are a stubborn donkey, you have some options.

As a browser, I use IE and I use Firefox. I was always a little perturbed that Firefox couldn’t carry the same look and feel as Windows Vista. I can compare it to my neighborhood. Recently, a homeowner pulled his oak tree and put in a palm tree. The entire neighborhood is lined with oak trees, over 75 of them. The look and feel of the neighborhood is traditional southern, not miami glitz. Firefox to me is miami glitz. I recently discovered how to give Firefox a traditional southern feel.
Figure A. shows a traditional southern Internet Explorer.

Figure B shows a Miami glitz Firefox.

If you are ready to get rid of the Miami glitz, download the following add-on (Figure C).

After installing the add-on, and restarting Firefox, you have Firefox with an IE Look and feel (traditional southern) (Figure D).
